Wayne State Dorms

CLOSEST TO THE CONFERENCE
Reserve a room when you register. Deadline to reserve your room: MAY 31, 2010.
  • Cost: $45/night per person per night.
  • Rooms are available for the nights of June 17 - June 27, covering the dates of both the AMC and the U.S. Social Forum. There's a lot going on in Detroit this June. In addition to the AMC, there is the USSF and a slew of related gatherings. If you want in on the Wayne State University residence hall housing and parking that the AMC uses each year (even if you are not attending the AMC), you can reserve it here.
  • Location: Towers Residence Hall, 655 W. Kirby, on the Wayne State University campus (check out some pics)
  • Distance from the AMC: Practically next door. This is as close as you will get to the conference site.
  • Amenities: Linens, towels and pillow included. Rooms are suite style, containing four one-person bedrooms attached to a shared living space with a sitting area and an attached bathroom.
  • Note: Wayne State issues cards to each individual staying in the dorms. The front desk is staffed 24 hours a day and they strictly enforce a one-person-per-card policy.

Crash Space

FIRST UNITARIAN-UNIVERSALIST CHURCH OF DETROIT
Reserve a spot when you register.
  • Cost: $15 for the AMC weekend. Make an additional donation to the UU Church if you are staying on through the U.S. Social Forum.
  • Available for nights of June 17-27.
  • Location: a half mile from the conference site
  • ADA complient facility.
  • Amenities: Bring a sleeping mat, sleeping bag, and pillow and claim a space on the floor. There will be a room reserved for women/trans people and kids, and another room that is general. There are no showers. There is a kitchen.

Hotel St. Regis

AMC HOTEL OF CHOICE
Contact the Hotel St. Regis to make your reservation. Deadline to reserve your room: June 3, 2010.
  • Cost: The Hotel St. Regis is offering reduced rates to AMC and U.S. Social Forum participants for reservations made for dates between June 17 - July 26. When you book your room, say you are with the AMC to get access to these special rates: $69 for single king-sized bed or double queen-sized bed, + 12% tax; $109 single/double Suite rate, + 12% tax
  • Location: In the New Center area. 3071 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit.
  • Distance from the AMC: 0.7 miles.
  • Amenities:Complimentary wireless high speed internet service available in all public areas and guest rooms. Complimentary, as needed shuttle, to the Wayne State University Campus as well as to any cultural, dining or entertainment areas downtown.
